Work Environment & Format

The Senior Underwriter - Commercial role is a hybrid position located in our Spokane, WA office.

Job Overview

The Senior Underwriter is responsible for the development and production of new and renewal Commercial accounts. Oversees the maintenance of constructive business relationships with assigned agents and works with them to identify new business opportunities, evaluate risks, recommends corrective actions and educates the producer to identify risks that meet Company guidelines. Reviews individual applications for Commercial lines to evaluate the degree of risk involved and to approve or reject based on Company policies. Develops new business, retains renewal book of business, and manages territory of assigned agents.

Requirements

Knowledge of:

· Underwriting practice, procedures, rules and regulations

· Rating plans (ISO or similar) and commercial lines coverages

· Knowledge of social, economic and competitive aspects of territory assigned

· National and local business conditions and trends

- Underwriting and marketing philosophy and procedure

Education and Experience:

• College Degree in finance, business administration, insurance or other related business discipline is preferred including and five+ (5) years’ experience as a commercial line’s underwriter.
• CPCU certification or completion of technical insurance coursework focusing on underwriting principles is desirable.
• Proficient with Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, Tableau.

Salary Range: $63,729 - $105,153

The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as benefits and bonus programs.
